STOP! YES, YOU! WHERE ARE YOU!!
#TakeASecThursday today is all things Presence
So, “Take A Sec” with a cuppa and think about this one:
I love meeting people and finding out what’s happening with them since we last met, what makes them tick, and if we can do something collaboratively in the future. To do this I have to (and want to) be fully present in the conversation and with the person, really listening to what they say (and how they say it).
At your last meeting, coffee or catchup were you fully present or were you in just in somebody’s presence?
These are two words that I believe get their meaning mixed and used interdependently without due consideration.
When being fully present, we are completely engaged, focussed and attentive. The happenings outside the conversation don’t register.
The power of this focussed attention can be tremendous for you (in your space) and for the other people with you.
Very quickly you gather likeminded people who appreciate the respect been shown and reciprocate.
Suddenly you are served with a wholesome “community” or “tribe” that develop deep connections and seek each other’s engaged company.
Like many busy people, I work on the people development area and I ask to be held accountable.
This week, so you can call me on it I’m going to get back to some mindful walking (present with me) and putting technology away when in conversation (present with others).
Why not share what are you going to do to connect and practice the engagement of being fully present? Remember your presence is a great gift to give another person.
